Kyle Campbell

2022 Head Coach

Coach Campbell is an accomplished player and coach that came up through the Cobra program.  Coach Campbell has been around lacrosse for over 35 years, starting out as a ball boy for the UMass Men’s lacrosse program where his father was a coach.  Kyle returns to the program that his father help lead and grow in the early 90’s.  Coach Campbell continued his playing carrier at Mt. Hebron where he set many offensive records.  Kyle Campbell was a highly sought after recruit that continued onto Loyola College before finishing his collegiate career at Towson University.  Coach Campbell still holds Towson’s single season goal record with 53 in 2001 and sits at number 6 for single season points as well.  Kyle earned numerous other accolades at each level, including All-American honors at both the high school and college levels.  After college, Coach Campbell continued playing with Team USA, in the MLL and numerous Men’s Club teams.  Kyle has experience on the sidelines with McDonogh High School, Stevenson University and several of the high school teams within Howard County.  In addition to playing and coaching the game, Coach Campbell also spent time officiating the game as well.

 

Andrew Garthoff

2022 Assistant Coach / Defensive Coordinator / Goalie Coach

Coach Garthoff grew up in the Howard County and Cobra lacrosse programs.  In high school, Coach Garthoff was a 4 year varsity starter, 3x MIAA All-Conference and a 2x Team MVP at Glenelg Country School.  Coach Garthoff currently serves as Varsity Assistant / Defensive Coordinator and Goalie Coach for Mount Saint Joseph High School having joined their staff in 2016.  He spent the previous 6 seasons in a similar capacity at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School and 1 season at UC Santa Barbara as their goalie coach.  Coach Garthoff is excited and honored for this opportunity to work with the next generation of HoCo talent.  His focus and coaching philosophy is based in fundamental development and reinforcement.  Coach Garthoff prescribes to the adage that "the little things matter" on and off the field and that attention to detail will provide his players with skills and experience far beyond the last whistle.  He finds the greatest joy in coaching to see player and team development/improvement.  Coach Garthoff resides in Howard Country with his wife and 2 children.

Charlie Fleck

2022 Assistant Coach

Coach Fleck has been coaching youth and travel lacrosse in Howard County for seven years, and he is currently the President of the Howard County Lacrosse Program.  Coach Fleck is a 1990 graduate of Mt. Hebron High School where he was named 2nd team all county and a member of the Howard County Allstar team.  Post-collegiately, Charlie played five years with Glyndon Men’s Lacrosse Club.  Charlie and his wife Kristen live in Ellicott City with their three lacrosse playing children.  While not coaching lacrosse, Charlie is a partner is two local small businesses.

Brian Machrian

2022 Assistant Coach

Coach Machiran is a 1992 graduate of Mt. Hebron High School.   After graduation he attended the University of Maryland at College Park where he played rugby.  In 2000, he began playing club lacrosse in the summer with his brothers, who were both members of the Towson University lacrosse team, as a way to maintain fitness.  Since 2008, Coach Brian has been playing year round in the Maryland Masters League in Howard and Anne Arundel Counties and is a manager/player for a Howard County Open Division team in the summer.  He started coaching with the Howard County Lacrosse Program in 2011.  He and his wife, Kelle (also a TU Lacrosse alum and coach on the Girl’s HoCo 2026 staff), have two children participating in the program.
